We'd love to welcome your council to the revolution. They need to hear from switched on residents like you!

Contact your council's mayor, councillors or even their sustainability officer or waste management team and let them know about the Compost Revolution – it's an award-winning composting program that saves councils time and money with educational tutorials and full data monitoring. The Compost Revolution has already partnered with over 70 councils across Australia since its  launch in 2012.

Remember your local Mayor and Councillors are there to support your community in becoming heathier, more sustainable and self sufficient. Councils are focused on reducing waste to landfill and so your councillors will be aware of the issues, and so you can expect them to be interested in your opinion.

Some talking points for your call...

The biggest impact will simply come from you explaining why you want to divert your food and organic waste into your own garden – and why you feel council should support residents in this goal.

If you're keen to discuss the benefits of home composting:

  • Gardening is great for our physical and mental well-being and is a fun actvity for families to do together.

  • It's the most eco friendly option for food waste created at home to manage it at the source (no transport impacts).

  • Home composting cuts down food waste in the first place (as people who manage their own waste, waste less).

  • By nurturing our gardens we nurture nature, making habitat for bees and other pollinators.

  • If you're a food gardener you can share how important growing your own food is.

  • In hotter suburbs mention the cooling effect of trees and lush gardens (up to 10 degrees in summer!).

  • And finally, home composting is cheaper per tonne than other methods of waste disposal, saving councils and rate payers money.

What about FOGO?

If they mention FOGO feel free to let them know you support it (if you do!), but home composting is complementary and provides a lot of benefits that FOGO doesn't.

Feel free to share this link with them if they want to know more https://compostrevolution.com.au/councils/.

Pro Tip: Even if your council isn’t on board you can still purchase products at up to 40% off RRP direct from us.
