It is best to place a worm farm in a position sheltered from sun, wind and rain. This will help to keep your worms cosy and safe throughout all seasons.

Some popular locations include: the porch, the balcony, under a garden table, on the the deck or under the deck.

Some locations that might need reconsideration include the garage and under a tree.

  • The garage: With metal roller doors, no windows and minimal ventilation, garages can often become quite hot on a summer day. Before placing your worm farm in your garage, ensure that you have sufficient cooling methods in place.

  • Under a tree: Trees can provide great shade but your worm farm may still be exposed to wind and rain. On days with high winds and rainfall, you may like to consider bringing your worm farm inside or under cover.
